The latest season of Ozark saw Marty (played by Jason Bateman) and Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney) face their biggest challenges to date. Netflix viewers watched as the Byrdes faced opposition from Omar Navarro (Felix Solis), Darlene Snell (Lisa Emery) and the Kansas City Mob to name a few, but the duo still made it to the end of season three alive.

Marty and Wendy came to close to death on more than one occasion in season three of Ozark.

Arguably the closest shave they endured, however, came in the very final moments of the season three finale.

After spending the series seemingly irking cartel boss Omar, the pair appeared to be in his bad books, despite Wendy sacrificing her own brother Ben (Tom Pelphrey) for the future of their organisation.

Behind the scenes, lawyer Helen Pierce (Janet McTeer) had also been scheming in order to scam the two out of the business.

Helen appeared to convince Omar that the Byrdes wouldn’t be needed once she’d managed to get her name on the books of their operation.

The Byrdes had also come under intense scrutiny from the FBI, attention Omar undoubtedly did not want to see.

Therefore, when they accompanied Helen and hitman Nelson (Nelson Bonilla) to Mexico in season three, episode 10, their time appeared to be up.

Luckily for them, it wasn’t the Byrdes that Omar wanted to take out of the picture.

Instead, hitman Nelson executed Helen in front of the Byrdes, cementing their place as Omar’s most valuable asset.

This escape from near-death took viewers by shock as Helen’s blood splattered over the duo.

However, one eagle-eyed fan has spotted somewhat of a blunder in the series which suggests the Byrdes have been toying with death for some time.

Taking to Reddit, Ozark fan The_Area_Manager explains the issue.

Under the thread ‘Seat Belts’, they say: “How come nobody in Ozark ever wears a seat belt while driving?

“Is it not mandatory in Missouri like it is in the UK where I live?”

It didn’t take long for fans to agree with the omission, with some providing an explanation as to why this may have occurred.

One fan replied: “They rarely show people wearing seat belts in TV shows.

A second added: “Also, people are rarely ‘driving’ in shows,

“If they are micd up then the seatbelt might also fudge the audio (even tho ADR is used a lot these days).” (sic)
