Piers Morgan has confirmed he is set to interview Labour leader Keir Starmer for his ITV show Life Stories next week, with it airing not long after.
The former Good Morning Britain host announced the news on Twitter earlier today (May 15) after earlier reports suggested the landmark interview would be taking place.
Sharing a side-by-side image of himself on Life Stories and then of the politician, Piers wrote: "BREAKING: Keir Starmer has agreed to appear on my Life Stories show. We're doing the interview next week, and it will air soon afterwards.
"Party leaders rarely submit themselves to such lengthy personal interviews so it should be a fascinating encounter."
Since the show launched in 2009, Piers has interviewed politicians such as Gordon Brown, Ann Widdecombe, John Prescott and Nigel Farage.
According to the Mirror, Sir Keir will talk about his childhood in Surrey as the second of four children, his law career which earned him a knighthood, and his subsequent move into politics.
On top of that, he will discuss how he lead the Labour party from his spare bedroom because of the lockdown.

Katie Rawcliffe, head of Entertainment at ITV, said: "Piers Morgan's Life Stories offers a detailed, personal look at some of the most famous characters around the globe.
"Piers is fantastic at getting people to open up about their lives, loves and losses. Sir Keir Starmer promises to be a real treat."
The controversial host returned to ITV earlier this year for a new series of the hit show, with the final episode in the series airing after his exit from Good Morning Britain.

The series included interviews with Gemma Collins, Chris Eubank, Trisha Goddard, Rupert Everett and Coleen Nolan.
Piers has interviewed a variety of names for Life Stories, with Hollywood icons such as Pamela Anderson, Raquel Welch and Britt Ekland and soap actors like Beverley Callard, Julie Goodyear, June Brown and William Roache getting a grilling.
It's clear Piers is still welcome at ITV, despite coming under fire for his comments about Meghan Markle earlier this year.
Follow the Duchess of Sussex's interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which she spoke about her struggles as a serving member of the Royal Family, Piers went on a verbal rampage.
He said he "didn't believe a word" of what the former actress had said about her mental health struggles.
Piers stormed off GMB after getting a grilling from co-star Alex Beresford, and later quit after refusing to apologise for his words.
The tense on-screen moments led to more than 41,000 complaints to Ofcom.
Meghan herself also complained.
