Power Book II: Ghost fans are still waiting to see what happens after Tariq St Patrick (played by Michael Rainey Jr) found himself in jail with a taunting letter from his father waiting for him. The latest chapter in the Power saga will be continuing later this week, but Starz has confirmed a third instalment is already in the works.

Season three of Ghost has landed Lethal Weapon’s Keesha Sharp as a series regular.

She’ll be joining in a major role alongside expected returning cast members Michael, Mary J Blige and Shane Johnson.

Keesha will portray a character named Professor Harper Bonet when the spin-off returns later this year.

In an official description via Deadline, Harper is described as “a progressive intellectual and boho beauty”.

After the news was announced, Keesha took to her Instagram account to celebrate her upcoming role.

She told her 141k followers: “Excited, I can finally let everyone know.

“I will be joining the cast of @ghoststarz and I’m excited to be a part of this dynamic story! Get ready for Professor Bonet!”

Outside of her on-screen work, she revealed she has most recently been working on some behind-the-scenes projects.

“I chose to spend most of the last year behind the camera,” she continued. “Directing (and loving it).

“But I’m excited to get back in front of the camera. Who will be watching?!”

The actress is best known for her role as Trish Murtagh in Lethal Weapon, the Fox adaptation of the Mel Gibson and Danny Glover-led film series of the same name.

In the TV reboot, Clayne Crawford and Damon Wayans portray mismatched buddy cops Martin Riggs and Roger Murtagh.

Keesha starred as Murtagh’s wife throughout the series, a role originated by singer and actress Darlene Love.

She was nominated for an NAACP award for her performance, an honour she also received for her main role in the 2002 sitcom series Girlfriends.

Since Lethal Weapon came to an end in 2019, she has appeared in the popular series The Good Fight and Empire.

The actress is also well known for her recurring role as Sylvia Dale Cochran in the acclaimed anthology series, The People v OJ Simpson: American Crime Story.

Ghost picked up shortly after the conclusion of the original Power’s sixth season, with James St Patrick (Omari Hardwick) shot dead by his own son.

While his mother Tasha (Naturi Naughton) faces trial for his murder, Tariq tries to balance his studies with business, while falling in deeper with another notorious local drug dealer.

Season two will continue with Tariq facing jail time this week, and fans also have season three plus additional spin-offs Raising Kanan and Force still to come.

Power Book II: Ghost season two continues Sunday, January 9 in the US on Starz and in the UK on STARZPLAY.
