Power season 6: Why didn’t Tommy kill Tasha for LaKeisha’s murder?

Starz series Power is nearly at an end with only a couple of episodes until viewers find out who shot James “Ghost” St Patrick (played by Omari Hardwick). The latest episode of the series saw Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora) eliminated from the line-up of suspects who could have killed the gangster. Instead, Tommy was the one to find Ghost bleeding to death on the floor of Truth nightclub.

The episode called It’s All Your Fault also saw Tommy confronting Tasha St Patrick (Naturi Naughton) after finding out she’d murdered LaKeisha Grant (La La Anthony).

Tommy was about to kill Tasha, holding her at gunpoint as she tried to explain what had happened.

Fans had been waiting for this moment for some time after Tasha had killed her friend earlier in the season in an act of self-preservation.

For a long time, Tommy had wrongly believed Ghost was the one who’d killed LaKeisha as a reprisal attack for Angela Valdes (Lela Loren).

But when it came down to it, Tommy allowed Tasha to live and walked away.

Speaking to TV Inside, actor Sikora said: “Tommy chose Tariq in that scene. More than Tasha, Tommy chose Tariq.

“I think Tommy did the most loving thing he possibly could do when he pushed Tariq over the edge of the building and basically told him in a nutshell, ‘I’m walking away from you because if I don’t, I’m gonna have to kill you.’ That’s just how it goes.

“So, by not killing Tasha he left his nephew—his godson—with a mother. And that was the kindest, most loving thing he possibly could have done.”

He also said on Power Confidential, Tommy made the decision to spare Tasha and leave her in her “own personal prison” and to live with the consequences of killing her best friend.

In the same way Tasha has to live with killing LaKeisha, Tommy has to live with the consequences of shooting dead Angela.

At the end of the episode, Tommy left New York behind as he headed to California to start up a new enterprise there.

Some viewers have been speculating about whether will get his own spin-off on the West Coast.

Sikora said Tommy had chosen to walk away and start again in a bid to save himself.

The actor also spoke about shooting the death scenes with his co-star Hardwick.

He said: “It was heavy. Omari and I definitely nurtured and established that brotherhood through all those seasons.

“That to go full circle and have that happen [Ghost dying in Tommy’s arms], it was an honour to have served with you Omari.

“I think we found the truth in that relationship and I think that only one of them could have survived and Tommy would have given himself for Ghost’s survival and I think we all know that too.”

With Tommy now out of the picture, Tasha, Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr) and Rashad Tate (Larenz Tate) are the only suspects who could have killed the drug kingpin.

There are many suggestions floating around about the killer with some even suggesting Ramona Garrity (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) may have pulled the trigger.

Additionally, there have been a number of purported leaks supposedly revealing the killer but fans are going to have to wait and see how it pans out.
