Queen of the South came back for season four on USA Network last year and was then available to watch on Netflix in June. The drama has already been confirmed for a season five but production has not yet started again after filming had to be shut down thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. A release date also hasn’t been announced so could be quite some time before we see the show’s return.
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Queen of the South.
Teresa Mendoza (played by Alice Braga) lost yet another loved one in her uphill battle to become one of the biggest drug lords in the world.
Out of revenge for the death of his nephew, Judge Lafayette (David Andrews) put a bomb in Tony Parra’s (Adolfo Alvarez) car.
So when both he and Teresa were inside the vehicle, the bomb went off and Teresa ended up in a coma.
But when she did wake up, Teresa was told Tony had died in the explosion.
She did get to see someone else she cared about again at the end of season four.
While at the warehouse, Teresa and her team saw a car frantically driving up, believing it could mean danger.
Thankfully, it was just James Valdez (Peter Gadiot) but he was bleeding from his abdomen.
When asked what had happened to him, James gave Teresa a warning, saying that someone was after her.
Season four then finished without revealing just who was out to get her so fans are going to have to wait until series five to find out.
Will Teresa rekindle her romance with James after season 4 comeback?
James has been the person Teresa has relied on ever since she first started working for Camila Vargas (Veronica Falcon).
While James hasn’t always been the friendliest face, he has looked out for her and been as honest as he can with Teresa about any dangers.
Over time, they have grown closer and learned to trust one another in season three, fans finally saw their relationship go in a different direction.
Teresa kissed James and after a passionate moment, they slept together and viewers are wanting to see more of their chemistry.

James left at the end of series three so he could work with the DEA in a bid to protect Teresa, showing how much he does really care for her.
While he wasn’t featured in the majority of season four, James will be back for season five following his dramatic comeback in the finale.
When a fan asked actress Braga if Teresa would be getting into another relationship in the upcoming season via her YouTube channel, she questioned if this would be the right thing to do.
Braga said: “It’s hard, I mean it’s a very lonely life.
“I think throughout the seasons we learn with Guero, with James that it’s not a business where you can have a relationship.
“We’ve seen what happened with Tony, so let’s see. I think she will still try, but I don’t know. It’s hard.”
Even though there hasn’t been any confirmation Teresa and James will rekindle their romance in season five, it is more likely since he is back in the show.
When Teresa does find out what he did to protect her, she is bound to want to get back to where they started before their potential relationship was interrupted.
As Braga said, Teresa may not have had the best luck with men or relationships in general, this may not stop her trying as she continues to work her way to the top.
