Rick and Morty (both played by Justin Roiland) have seen some outrageous alien species in their travels across time and space. The Adult Swim characters are no strangers to seeing some truly horrifying things, but Rick stopped in his tracks during season four, episode four, titled Claw and Hoarder: Special Ricktim’s Morty.

During the episode Rick and Jerry Smith (Chris Parnell) stumbled upon a seemingly normal cat on another planet.

While Jerry was convinced this was simply a house-broken cat who could do no harm, Rick wasn’t convinced.

As a result, Rick used one of his many devices to allow the pair of them to read the feline’s mind to see what it had seen over the years.

Rick rapidly grew to regret doing this, however, as Jerry instantly vomited, and Rick found himself looking for a more permanent way out.

While the looming presence of what the cat had done in its past was never revealed, viewers instantly began fearing the worst scenarios possible.

The running joke was of course that the cat – who could talk, by the way – would not tell Rick and Jerry where he had come from, but was really some form of ultimate evil.

Now, speaking about this episode in particular, Jerry star Chris Parnell has given his thoughts on what he thinks the cat might have seen or done in his lifetime.

Speaking to Digital Spy about what the cat had done, Chris mused: “Oh, wow. I guess it would be [the cat] just eviscerating other people.

“Or maybe a sort of Hitler kind of ruler overseeing the death of millions? Or – I don’t know – doing horrible sexual acts.”

Although Chris himself wasn’t too sure of what the cat had seen or done, he was also not too eager to give viewers a definitive answer.

He concluded: “It’s just… I don’t know. It’s hard to imagine. It’s probably better left that way.”

Viewers will of course be looking into what this cat could have done for weeks to come – but no real proof of anything has been dropped just yet.

The show may later go on to reference what this cat has done in its past during later episodes, as the show is wont to do.

Until then, viewers have since been poring over the information given about the new episodes by Beth Smith star Sarah Chalke.

Speaking about the second half of season four, Sarah explained: “I feel like this season, like what you guys are about to see is some of my favourite stuff.

“The rest of season 4b, I think it’s some, just in general, some of my favourite episodes.”

Going on to speak about the show’s writers, she added: “They’re so creative. It’s so funny. I can’t believe just the bottomless supply of creativity that comes out of Dan and Justin’s brains.

“You know, I think that’s what people are really signing up for when they watch Rick and Morty.

“We get excited when we get a new script in our inboxes. You have no idea what’s gonna happen and they are two of the quickest, funniest people I’ve worked with.”
