Riverdale season 4: Who is Archie’s new enemy Dodger?

Riverdale season four will premiere on Wednesday, October 9 on The CW in the US. Over in the UK, you will be able to watch new episodes every Thursday on Netflix, starting from Thursday, October 10. The plot of the upcoming series has been kept under wraps but fans can expect the cult known as The Farm to be a huge storyline.

Who is Archie’s new enemy Dodger?

In the previous three seasons of Riverdale, Archie (played by KJ Apa) has faced rivals, enemies and has narrowly escaped death on numerous occasions.

First of all, there was the Hiram Lodge (Mark Consuelos), followed by the Gargoyle King.

But now Archie has a new enemy to face called Dodger, who is described as a “local thug who becomes a semis for Archie.”

The CW announced actor Juan Riedinger will portray Dodger in the upcoming season of Riverdale.

Season four will also see some new faces; Supergirl’s Sam Witwer will appear as Mr Chipping, a lecturer who is out to get Jughead Jones (Cole Spouse).

Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con in July, Sprouse said Mr Chipping is “the bane of Jughead’s existence.”

He added: “Jughead gets whisked away on a scholarship to a very sort of Gossip Girl Upper East Side preppy, pretentious, richy-rich silver spoon [school] and he’s going to be the new blood.

“I think it’s fun. And the school also kind of serves – I assume, maybe I’m just speaking out of turn here – but it serves as the setting for the flash-forward.”

Who is actor Juan Riedinger?

Juan Riedinger is a Canadian actor and director, living in Los Angeles.

He is best known for playing the cartel leader Carlos Lehder in Netflix’s Narcos.

Riedinger most recently appeared in the series Claws as Joe Dupree and as Teo in Good Behaviour.

He also starred in Supernatural season five as Ted.

His film credits include Jennifer’s Body, starring alongside Megan Fox, Black Christmas and Ultimatum to Earth.

Who will star in Riverdale season 4?

The Riverdale teens will be back for the show’s fourth season.

This means, KJ Apa will be back as Archie, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge and Cole Spouse as Jughead Jones.

Also returning to Riverdale season four is Marisol Nichols as Hermione Lodge, Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, Mädchen Amick as Alice Cooper, Mark Consuelos as Hiram Lodge, Casey Cott as Kevin Keller and Skeet Ulrich as FP Jones.

Ashleigh Murray who plays Josie McCoy will make fewer appearances in the new series.

This is because the Murray has been confirmed to play Josie in the Riverdale spin-off series Katy Keene.

Luke Perry who played Fred Andrews will not appear in Riverdale season four following his death on March 4, 2019, aged 52.

He appeared in the final three episodes of Riverdale, which were dedicated to Perry.

The first episode of the fourth series, titled ‘In memorial’, will also be entirely dedicated to Perry.

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa explained: “We know that we have to address it in some way, but we’re giving ourselves a little bit of time and space before we figure out the best way to honour him.”

“His spirit – which was so generous and wise and vivacious – we hope will infuse every episode, so in my mind, every episode for the rest of time on Riverdale will have a bit of Luke in it.

“We wanted to honour Luke, and figure out the best way to handle the character of Fred Andrews in the show, so we sort of said, ‘You know what? Let’s not squeeze, let’s not rush to squeeze something into the finale, or into the last couple of episodes, let’s really think about it, and let’s tell that story at the beginning of season four.”
