Rose Ayling-Ellis unveils first Barbie doll with hearing aids
Former EastEnders star and Strictly Come Dancing winner Rose, 28, captured the nation’s hearts when she won the 2022 edition of the BBC dance competition.
Rose, who was born deaf, managed to break down barriers to prove those with disabilities are capable of not just being included in such shows, but of winning them.
She now has an important connection with May’s huge Coronation celebrations as she has been involved in mentoring Unify, an all-deaf sign performance group that uses British Sign Language (BSL) to sing.
On Sunday, May 7, the group will be taking to the stage at Windsor Castle as people from around the world tune in as part of the King’s Coronation Concert.
Detailing her excitement, Rose recalled a “lovely” gesture made by the King and Queen Camilla when they visited the EastEnders set last year.
Talking about the significance of being a part of the festivities, which will begin on Saturday, May 6, Rose detailed meeting the royals.
Back in March 2022, the two visited the set of EastEnders to be part of a special episode.
“They both signed, ‘Good morning’, which was lovely,” Rose told Radio Times.

Talking about her role with Unify, she told the publication: “I’m not sure they need much advice from me, they’re already so confident.
On being able to show the nation the talented group, she remarked: “It’s such a cool way of showing all these different people who represent the UK – I can’t wait to see all the other choirs perform.
“And it’s great that the Coronation will have a BSL interpreter.
“There’s a long way still to go, but it’s very exciting that all this change is happening.”
Unify will be performing alongside other community choirs and singers during the Coronation weekend. The 300-strong super choir will be led by Gareth Malone.
A signed version of the King’s Coronation will air on BBC Two from Saturday, May 6, while BBC One will air rolling coverage of the event all day.
