She was born in South Africa and says she was lured to the island in 2006, trying a number of times to escape. She was one of 24 women to speak out in court in New York last year and has spoken on the Netflix documentary – Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich. Express.co.uk has everything you need to know about when Sarah Ransome met financier Epstein, and what happened.
When did Sarah Ransome meet Jeffrey Epstein?
Sarah Ransome was 22 when she first met the convicted sex offender in 2006.
At the time, she had just moved to New York to study fashion.
She said not long after moving to the city, she was invited to visit Epstein’s private Caribbean island.
Speaking to CBS’s This Morning host Anthony Mason, she said: “Quite soon after that I was called into his bedroom and then raped. There was no way of escaping off the island.”

She added: “I think the more he saw you being damaged, the more he enjoyed it, the more it excited him.”

Epstein was found unresponsive in his New York prison cell in August 2019, after denying sex trafficking and conspiracy charges.
Following his death, Ransome banded together with other survivors in court to tell their side of the story and fight for justice.
She said: “I have faith that maybe I’ll get another day in court where I can face my co-conspirators, the people that helped Jeffrey rape me every day.”
Ransome claimed his chief lieutenants, including his girlfriend at the time Ghislaine Maxwell, saw everything. Maxwell has repeatedly denied any involvement in Epstein’s crimes.
Ransome said the fear of what happened “never goes away” as others allegedly involved in the crimes are still out there.
She was recruited by a woman in a night club in New York when she was 22-years-old. The island was on Little St James in the Caribbean.
She is the granddaughter of Lord Gordon Macpherson, the second baron of Drumochter, and she moved to the US from a university in Edinburgh.
Ransome told the Telegraph she made numerous attempts to escape the island but she was brought back by a team who used boats around the island.
She described Epstein as being “charming and charismatic” at the time, saying they would go and watch films together.
She eventually managed to escape in 2007, when she was staying at Epstein’s Manhatten building.

She said she had spotted an abandoned quad bike on the island and had jumped on it in a bid to drive to safety.
She had planned to drive to a beach and swim to St Thomas island but she was spotted on security cameras and was returned to Epstein’s home.
