Kristian Nairn is best known for having played Hodor in the HBO epic Game of Thrones. The star has a number of new projects in the works and is set to feature in an upcoming episode of BBC’s Fast Food Face Off. In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, Kristian has opened up about his experience filming the foodie show.
The former Game of Thrones star will be one of the celebrity guests in the next episode of Fast Food Face Off.
The episode will see stand-up comedian Josh Jones pit Kristian and BBC Radio 1 star Gemma Bradley against each other in a competition to find the best takeaway in town.
Kristian gets the opportunity to pick out some of his local takeaways in Northern Ireland on the show.
In an exclusive interview, Kristian revealed what it was like filming the foodie show.
He remarked: “It was a lot of fun to film, I mean, it’s not often your favourite food features as part of the job.
“So I’m still searching for a downside here!” Kristian exclaimed.
One of his takeaways of choice that features in the episode was a street food van named Hatch.
Speaking about the food van, Kristian commented: “I picked them because not only do they do the standard takeaway items, and really well, they have items that you don’t see in a takeaway very often.
“Also, everything is home made and locally sourced,” he added.
The Hodor actor explained that he definitely classes himself as a foodie and almost had a career as a chef.
He revealed: “I actually partially trained as a chef in my younger life, which left me with the certainty that I’m not very good at it, and a healthy respect for those who are.”
Kristian detailed the key things he looks for from a good takeaway restaurant.
“Something to make them stand out from everyone else, and a clever use of ingredients.
“Just because it’s a small business doesn’t mean there can’t be big tastes,” he added.
There can be only one winner in the Fast Food Face Off and to find out who will take home the trophy, the takeaway chefs must go head to head in some taste tests and timed challenges.
To find out whether or not Kristian’s top takeaway can take home the trophy, viewers will have to tune in when it airs on BBC One on Monday July 19.
Fast Food Face Off isn’t the only TV project Kristian’s been working on, as he’s also set to make a return to HBO.
The star revealed he’s currently filming a new HBO Max series called Our Flag Means Death.
He’s teaming up with Oscar winning filmmaker Taika Watiti for the new TV project.
Fast Food Face Off drops on BBC iPlayer on Monday 12th July. It will also air on BBC One on Monday 19th July at 10:35pm.
