America’s Got Talent saw a shake-up this year with acts having to battle it out in live shows to be in with a chance to make it to the final of the competition. Sara James stunned the judges with her Billie Eilish audition which Simon Cowell awarded her the Golden Buzzer. However, Sara impressed the judges and audiences once again on Tuesday evening after her performance of Elton John’s hit song, Rocket Man.
At just 14 years old, Sara has blown the judges away every time she has taken to the stage.
On Tuesday, she was the last to perform during the two-hour live show and expressed: “I really have to make this performance inspire.”
As she gave the performance of a lifetime, she wowed the crowd and the judges, who gave her a standing ovation when she finished.
Amazed by what he had just heard, Simon praised: “Wow, Sara, I am actually very emotional for you right now because I know how much this means to you.
“That song choice was genius. I think you are going to find that Elton John is going to be retweeting the song.”
Co-star Heidi Klum said: “Absolutely, amazing. You are absolutely incredible.”
“It really was a winning performance. Your look, your poise, your talent is that of a superstar,” Howie Mandel exclaimed.
After competing against 11 other acts, Sara was one of two contestants to move on to the finals.
Viewers who were watching from home were also stunned by her magical performance and took to Twitter to congratulate the young singer.
@TracyRutter commented: “LOVED this version of Rocket Man by Sara James #AmericasGotTalent.”
@saraterrific added: “I don’t usually watch #americasgottalent but Sara James has an amazing voice!”
@MariasWorld14 praised: “Where do I go to vote for Sara James she was amazing #AmericasGotTalent.”
Brian Alexander quipped: “Sara James WON tonight! That was without a doubt the best Elton John cover I’ve ever heard, and one of the most captivating performances in @AGT history. If that song isn’t topping the charts by tomorrow, I will be shocked!”
Josh Kennon exclaimed: “Oh but Sara STILL OWNED IT — Her take on “Rocketman” was SO DIFFERENT — NAILING that long note like it was NOTHING — she just OWNS the stage!! What a way to end the night.”
@FanCityTV tweeted: “Watching Sara James perform – nobody else needs to perform, just give her the win right now.” (sic)
Since her success on the show and impressing Simon, Sara has opened up about what it was like to be given the Golden Buzzer.
She told Parade.com: “When Simon punched the Golden Buzzer, I was like, ‘What? No. No, that’s not true.’
“Obviously to get the Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell is something unexpected, something literally I cannot believe.
“I’m grateful for that all the time. Simon also loves wonderful artists, and he’s such an amazing person. I love him.
“I was literally crying like a baby when I got the Golden Buzzer. You can clearly see on the video.
“I never cry, I’m not a crier, to be honest, and then I was crying like a baby, like, ‘Oh, my God. People are going to see me crying.'”
America’s Got Talent airs on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8 pm ET on NBC.
