Chantelle Atkins (Jessica Plummer) abuse at the hands of husband Gray (Toby-Alexander Smith) in EastEnders is seemingly set to reach a tragic conclusion in a special episode.
Chantelle has set in motion her plan to escape from Gray, and Kheerat Panesar (Jaz Deol) has been instrumental in said plan — offering her the cash she needs to afford a divorce lawyer.
With her escape plan seemingly involving a family holiday, she packs as much as she can. However, the Taylor clan — all dressed in holiday attire — arrive on her doorstep, and Gray is taken aback.
Chantelle manages to successfully lie, claiming that the trip is nothing more than a last-minute holiday, and therefore he allows her to go.
However, as the week progresses, Gray’s suspicions continue to intensify, while Chantelle is pleased that her plan is coming together.
That is, until she arrives home one evening to discover that Gray has sweet-talked her parents into allowing Mia and Mackenzie to stay home with him.
As the holiday gets underway, Chantelle takes takes a moment to herself in a cafe — an action which leaves Mitch (Roger Griffiths) concerned.
Chantelle covers when he enquires if she’s okay, informing him that she’s simply missing her kids.
Desperate to help, Mitch returns to Walford in an effort to pick up the kids, but when he returns, he does so with Gray —leaving Chantelle horrified.
At the cafe, she takes a call from Kheerat, and — later — when she returns to the B&B, she’s uneasy to find Gray waiting there.
The Taylors relax with a film, but Gray is keen to return to Walford, and therefore insists that he, Chantelle and the children all go home.
Mia and Mackenzie are already strapped in and ready to go when he makes such a suggestion, which means that Chantelle is unable to dispute him.
They set off home, but as they do so, Mitchell detects a flicker of fear in Chantelle’s face.

it was recently confirmed that Chantelle will be killed by abuser Gray.
