Dotty Cotton (Milly Zero) has been hellbent on figuring out the truth about Ian Beale’s (Adam Woodyatt) involvement in Dennis Rickman’s (Bleu Landau) death in EastEnders, and she accomplished just that during tonight’s episode, but as she realised the weight that such a discovery carried, she decided to use it as a bargaining chip to secure her future, in scenes which would’ve made old man Nick (John Altman) very proud.
With doubts circulating in his mind, Peter (Dayle Hudson) had a conversation with Ian about whether or not he was to blame for Dennis’ death. However, his dad’s words were enough to convince him that he was innocent, and therefore Peter confronted Dotty once more, and informed her to drop this vendetta.
Dotty was ready to do just that after exchanging some harsh words with Ian, as she had her own problems to deal with when Shirley (Linda Henry) informed her that she was planning on closing The Arches.
As a result, the young woman did some investigating, and located a work phone which hadn’t been changed in quite some time.
She was chuffed to discover a list of possible clients via missed calls and messages on the device, but her happiness turned to horror when she realised one of the voicemails was from Dennis — as he pleaded with Ian to free him aboard the party boat.
With the evidence she needed, Dotty revealed her discovery to Ian — who was incredibly horrified to hear Dennis pleading for help once more.
Ian pleaded with her to keep his secret, and Dotty was thinking about how best to proceed, but when another conversation with Shirley made her realise that her job was at stake, she devised a plan that would allow her to benefit from the situation.
Yes, Dotty proceeded to blackmail Ian, revealing that she would like him to purchase The Arches on her behalf from Ben (Max Bowden) in exchange for her silence.

Will Ian agree to her terms?
