Spoilers: Eileen makes an upsetting comment about death in Corrie

The will they/won’t they storyline with Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) and George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) in Coronation Street has kept us hooked for weeks!

George recently teamed up with Sean (Antony Cotton) to try and get Eileen to spend time with him, but as George is somewhat clumsy, he’s messed up his plans plenty of times…need we remind you he gave Eileen a bunch of flowers from the funeral parlour…

Coming up, it’s Eileen that makes the mistake this time, as she makes an insensitive comment about death.

In the café, George tells Eileen that Todd (Gareth Pierce) spent last night kipping in the funeral parlour and she ought to cut him a bit of slack, leaving Eileen torn.

Later, George finds Eileen in the café and after admitting he’s taken a shine to her, wonders if she fancies dinner at the bistro.

Eileen coyly accepts, but when George overhears her telling Mary (Patti Clare) she’s unsure about going out with someone who handles the dead for a living, he sends a text cancelling their evening together.

A furious Eileen lambasts George for cancelling their date, but when George reveals he overheard her conversation to Mary, Eileen is mortified.

Awkward! Will Eileen apologise?

Will this comment scrap any chances of Eileen and George being together?
