Sinister bully and coercive abuser Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew) has been determined to crack Yasmeen Nazir’s (Shelley King) confidence so that he can fully control her in Coronation Street. But with Alya (Sair Khan) becoming suspicious of his behaviour and motives, it seems like he has an obstacle in his way.
But how far is he prepared to go in order to isolate Yasmeen from Alya? After Alya hears from Gail Rodwell (Helen Worth) that Yasmeen was crying in her back garden, Alya determines to find out what was going on and confronts Geoff. Geoff is evasive and so Alya asks Yasmeen.
She insists to her gran that they go for a walk on the Red Rec together and as Alya tries to get through to Yasmeen, she makes an admission – but will she divulge what has been going on behind closed doors?
Later, Alya discovers more reviews online which slate her and the restaurant and, convinced that Ray Crosby (Mark Frost) is trying to sabotage the business, she determines to do some digging and trace the source of the comments. Geoff panics as he was the one to have left the comments to try and drive Alya away from Speed Daal and place doubt in Yasmeen’s mind about her.
He tells Alya that she might just make things worse but is this a veiled threat – and will she listen to him or press ahead and discover the real truth? And, if the latter, will it lead all of the pieces to fit into place over how he has been treating Yasmeen?
Meanwhile, Geoff fears that his recent actions which led to Yasmeen breaking down have pushed her away and when she goes AWOL, he panics and searches for where he has stashed her passport. He is relieved to find it there and when Yasmeen arrives home to say she went for a walk with Alya, Geoff crumbles and holds her close, telling her he couldn’t bear it if she ever left home.
As Geoff tries to win sympathy from Yasmeen and get her back where he wants her, will he succeed? Or will Alya arrive with a bombshell to expose him for the monster that he is?
