Stranger Things fans were sent into a frenzy after showrunners officially announced season four of the science fiction hit in an Upside Down themed teaser clip. Little was revealed about the new show, but now it seems it will be a big one, with the length of time needed to film making a summer release date impossible.
According to TV Line the crew will be filming season four for several months of the new year.
With filming starting in January and scheduled to end in August, it seems fans won’t be reunited with Eleven (played by Millie Bobby Brown) and the gang next summer.
The report read: “We can confirm that season four is slated to begin shooting in January and will likely wrap in August,”
Moreover, the report confirmed there will be no Stranger Things in the summer of 2020.

They added that this “essentially rules out the possibility of the series returning this summer”.
With showrunners taking up a huge chunk of the year to film, fans may be expecting a longer series.
However, the upcoming series is set to be shorter than the last.
The upcoming outing is set to consist of eight episodes, rather than nine as seen in season three.
Bosses have been know to pace the show with the time of its release.
Could this mean the next season will see a wintery Upside Down?
This would be a stark contrast to season three’s summer in Hawkins theme.
Afterall, the season four promo has already teased “we’re not in Hawkins anymore”.

Meanwhile, fans are beginning to suspect that Eleven will turn evil in the next outing after The Stranger Things writers’ Twitter account dropped a huge clue.
The latest antics of the account saw a fan asking: “@strangerwriters can you give us a hint about S4 using a song? I bet $5 that you can’t do that.”
To which the account replied: “And in the dark, I can hear your heartbeat, I tried to find the sound, but then it stopped, and I was in the darkness, so darkness I became.”
The lyrics come from Florence and the Machine’s 2010 song Cosmic Love.

The song itself details losing someone into darkness, and therefore becoming dark themselves.
Could this be referring to Eleven loosing her father figure Hopper (David Harbour) who was lost in the Upside Down last season?
Fans will have to wait and see if the protagonist can resist temptation and stay on the right path.
