Layton explains they’d had a ‘bad’ rehearsal before last week’s show
Strictly Come Dancing contestant Layton Williams admitted he had “lost it” ahead of last week’s live show thanks to a “bad” rehearsal.
The actor performed a jive with dance professional Nikita Kuzmin and ended up achieving an impressive score of 36 from the judges.
However, the couple, who were first up last week, weren’t expecting things to go quite so well.
“Opening [the show] is a whole different game,” the 29-year-old confessed during Friday’s spin-off of the BBC competition, It Takes Two.
“That was really… It was really scary because you don’t get enough time to kind of get in the zone and prep and just be on it.

“It’s just like, ‘Alright, let’s go,’ so I was really nervous. And before the show as well, the dress rehearsal didn’t go as cute as I’d wanted it to.”
“It didn’t go well at all, no,” Nikita confirmed.
“Like… It was bad… It was bad, “Layton repeated as Nikita replied: “Yeah, it wasn’t our best dress rehearsal, I’ll say that.”
“It’s the worst one we’ve ever had!” Layton admitted before Nikita agreed.

“There was one but where I was behind when I shouldn’t have been, I was just making up my own choreography…
“Then I was like, ‘Ahh,’ like I lost it! So the fact that we actually delivered on the night… I was so relieved. It was magical.”
“It might explain then why you, Nikita, were so emotional in the Claudetorium,” host Fleur East pointed out.
“You said you’d never been so proud, what was it that moved you? Was it just relief?”
“Yeah, it was also just seeing him enjoying it so much,” Nikita answered.
“Everything just went the way it was supposed to go and that week was really, really hard – probably our hardest week so far.
“And that week I was just… Even when I was going home I was thinking, ‘I’m actually really, really proud of him,’ because he truly took control.
“When it had to be done he took control, he did his job, he went in, zero breaks, full concentration and I was thinking very night when I was coming home, ‘Wow, he’s just fantastic.'”
