Strictly Nikita Kuzmins grandma fled Ukraine weeks after undergoing surgery

Strictly Come Dancing professional Nikita Kuzmin has revealed how his grandmother “surprised” his family when she arrived in Poland 13 hours early on The One Show.

During Monday’s (March 21) instalment of the popular BBC One show, Big Brother star Emma Willis and Jermaine Jenas welcomed the 24-year-old ballroom dancer and his fellow Strictly star Graziano Di Prima onto the show.

Amid the ongoing conflict happening in Ukraine, Nikita gave fans an insight into what life is like for the hundreds of thousands of refugees who managed to make it across the border to Poland after he picked up his elderly family member.

Although the star was overwhelmed to see his grandmother safe and well in the heart of Poland, he confessed how he was still overcome with emotion for the women and children now homeless and in a foreign country.

When the mum-of-three asked what it was like for refugees overseas, he revealed how his grandmother arrived at the border earlier than planned despite recovering from an operation just weeks earlier.

He told viewers at home: “She surprised us when she texted her through the night and arrived 13 hours in advance.”
