Strictly’s Kelvin Fletcher is close to tears as he scores first 40 with Oti Mabuse in hard fought semi final – The Sun

KELVIN Fletcher came close to tears tonight as he finally scored his first 40 of the series with a stunning Quickstep.

The actor's snake hips have had viewers and the judges hot under the collar all series but it was his light feet and perfect posture that won him the top score in the semi-final.

The ex Emmerdale star was in dreamland for musicals week as one by one the judges revealed 10s on their paddles.

He looked dapper in a penguin suit as he gracefully led Oti around the dancefloor to classic track The Lady Is A Tramp.

Bruno Tonioli couldn't speak highly enough of the performance, telling the partnership: "That was truly a sparkling delight, we see a lot of quicksteps you have the lightness of the footwork but what you did was extraordinary you hit the music accent with such a musicality, and such perfection I had goosebumps your were a soprano at her best."

His second performance didn't quite measure up to the first, but there were still plenty of plaudits for the paso doble with Kelvin's see-through shirt sending pulses racing.

Kelvin wasn't the only one to tear up on the night with comedian Chris Ramsey admitting he cried mid routine while doing his rumba to Don't Watch Me Cry by Jorja Smith.

While it moved the star, Craig Revel Horwood was left cold, scoring it a four and saying: "Wrong dance, wrong week."

He's the overwhelming favourite with the bookies to be eliminated with Coral having him 1-8 to leave in tomorrow night's show.

Karim Zeroual had his pro partner Amy Dowden welling up as she made his case for his progression to the final.

She told Claudia Winkleman how she'd made a "friend for life" in the broadcaster after they scored a huge 38 for their American Smooth.

Emma Barton and Anton Du Beke were consistently good, impressing with both their Cha Cha and waltz, but found themselves overshadowed by the top two.

Viewers were delighted earlier in the show after spotting Emmerdale's Cain Dingle in the audience.

The Dales badboy – otherwise known as actor Jeff Hordley – was in the audience to support pal and former co-star Kelvin.

One wrote: "Ah cain dingle in the audience ?? #Strictly"

A second said: "Cain Dingle in the audience is everything ? #Strictly"

Another added: "Yes!! Not only is it the #Strictly semi final, but Cain Dingle is in the audience!!! ????"

Kelvin said he danced for his son this weekend after he missed his first birthday.

The soap star's son turned one on Thursday but Fletcher was with his professional partner Oti training for this week's semi-final.
