Sweet Tooth fans are eager to know if there will be a season 3

Sweet Tooth Season 2 trailer on Netflix

Sweet Tooth returned for its second outing at the end of April 2023 with Gus and his fellow children-animal hybrid friends ready to face the Last Men.

All eight episodes were dropped in one go, so many Netflix subscribers have already binge-watched the entirety of the unique drama.

Now fans are wondering what the future looks like for the popular series, which remains in Netflix’s Top 10 Most Watched.

Will there be a season 3 of Sweet Tooth?

As of yet, Netflix has not yet officially given the green light for Sweet Tooth to return for a season three.

This could be because series two has only just come out on the streamer so it’s still very early days.

But according to What’s On Netflix, a number of sources have claimed that Sweet Tooth has already been given the go-ahead behind the scenes for a season three.

In fact, it has been reported that the quiet renewal came ahead of its series two release date.

Regarding a potential release date if the show does make a comeback, fans could be in for a wait.

Season one was released in June 2021, while the second season was filmed throughout the first half of 2022, wrapping up that June before its April 2023 start date.

Therefore, if it does return, Sweet Tooth season three may not be back until the spring or summer of 2025.

And even if season three will be on its way, it is thought it could be the drama’s last.

Sweet Tooth is an adaptation of the DC comic of the same name which ran for 40 issues.

The storylines that have played out in the show so far have covered most of the material from the comics.

So it is believed that if it is renewed, there could be just enough plots for one more season of Sweet Tooth.

Season two ended with Dr Singh (played by Adeel Akhtar) following the hybrid children as he believes experimenting on them could be the only way to find a cure for the plague that destroyed the population.

Meanwhile, Gus (Christian Convery) and his friends are embarking on their next exciting adventure.

This time, they will be travelling to Alaska with the hope of finding Gus’ beloved mum Birdie.

Sweet Tooth is available to watch on Netflix.
