NCIS LA’s production manager Rick Tunell took to Twitter to share exciting news, which revealed production for upcoming season 13 has officially wrapped. The CBS procedural series to return to regular programming after a delay in filming due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Season 13 came to a bittersweet end which saw Nell Jones (played by Renee Felice Smith) move to Tokyo with Eric Beale (Barrett Foa) to help him run the international office of his company.

Her departure was an unexpected one as she had been offered a permanent role as Operations Manager but instead decided to resign.

Despite this, Sam Hanna (LL Cool J), G.Calen (Chris O’Donnell) and Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) are expected to return in the upcoming instalment of the series.

With the recent announcement, it appears NCIS LA are on track for the October premiere date.

In his tweet, Rick Tunell shared a behind the scenes snap of their location, captioned: “4:42 pm. That’s a wrap. One more day on ep#1304.”

However, this wasn’t the first time the crew member shared an exciting update.

Throughout the course of production, the cast and crew kept fans updated with how they endured filming under the strict Covid guidelines.

Rick had previously given fans a huge clue into the third episode of season 13 after revealing its title as Indentured.

He also took to Twitter to share the moment filming for the season premiere wrapped up, while teasing a potential storyline.

In the photo, there was a warning sign which stated: “Pacific West Water Station. Warning. Imminent Hazard.”

This could be a huge clue into the episode as fans could potentially see flooding or a burst water pipe become the centre focus.

Viewers will remember the episode in season two which saw the team survive shock flooding, thunderstorms and hail.

Although Rick has consistently provided updates and subtle clues, it’s still yet to be seen who the main focus of the season will be.

It was previously announced actor Gerald McRaney would be reprising his role as Retired Navy Admiral Hollace Kilbride on a more regular basis – as he has now become a series regular.

The season 12 finale saw the surprise return of Hetty Lange (Linda Hunt) who mysteriously disappeared and was missing throughout that season.

She would only make a quick appearance on a video call while she was on a secret mission.

Showrunners revealed the reason for her absence as Covid concerns and it was too risky to put the 76-year-old actress in undue harm – so they filmed in her driveway instead.

Hopefully, season 13 will provide viewers with insight into her secret mission and how to see how the crew will take it.

Hetty only returned in the season finale to bid farewell to Nell before she left for Tokyo and, although Nell didn’t explain the reason for her departure, she told Hetty it was a story for another time – which could potentially hint at her return.
