The Crown releases first look at Dominic West and Elizabeth Debicki in season 5

The Crown has released a first look at Dominic West and Elizabeth Debicki as Prince Charles and Princess Diana in season 5 – and we can’t wait to see this pair come face to face on screen.

The next season of Netflix period drama The Crown, which is due to come out in 2022, will pick up the depiction of the royal family in the 1990s.

Following Josh O’Connor and Emma Corrin’s masterful performances as the Prince and Princess of Wales, Dominic and Elizabeth will be taking over as older iterations of the royals.

Having recently revealed the first official look of Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, this latest picture drop has delighted fans beyond measure.

In the photograph of Dominic as Prince Charles, the royal is standing looking to the side with an anxious expression on his face.

He places his hand in the pocket of his jacket, his hair combed with a side parting and flicked on the ends.

The picture of Elizabeth as the late Princess Diana depicts her in a pensive state, as the royal lays back on a sofa with a piece of paper on her lap.

She looks down, seemingly lost in thought as she rests one hand under her chin and the other – on which she is wearing her engagement ring – resting on her arm.

The picture recently released of Imelda as the monarch showed her dressed in one of the queen’s quintessentially colourful ensembles, her hair styled in perfectly coiffed curls.

In addition to Dominic, Elizabeth and Imelda, other actors who will be starring in season five of The Crown include Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip and Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret.

Jonny Lee Miller has been cast as former prime minister Sir John Major, while it is also expected that Tony Blair will be depicted in the upcoming episodes.

The Crown has an astonishing 24 nominations at the 2021 Emmy Awards, which are due to take place in September.

These include nods in the categories for Outstanding Drama Series, Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Josh, Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Olivia Colman and Emma and Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for Helena Bonham Carter, Gillian Anderson and Emerald Fennell.

The Crown is available to watch on Netflix.
