The return of one of the most prestigious dramas on television is almost here.
Netflix historical drama The Crown season 3 has revealed a new teaser trailer ahead of its broadcast at the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 22, 2019.
The footage shows Queen Elizabeth II , now played by Oscar-winner Olivia Colman , review a new profile headshot of herself beside an image of her younger self, as played by Claire Foy in the first two seasons.
When an advisor mentions that the image reflects her transition away from being "a young woman", Colman's Queen refers to herself as an "old bat".
The Queen then comments on "a great many changes" and how there is "nothing one can do about it, one just has to get on with it."
The trailer itself probably hits at how audiences need to get used to seeing Colman in the role after Foy's tenure was so highly acclaimed.
The new season will also see Matt Smith replaced as Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh by Outlander star Tobias Menzies, and Vanessa Kirby replaced by Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon.
We can also look forward to the introduction of Only You star Josh O'Connor as Prince Charles and Call the Midwife actress and Killing Eve writer Emerald Fennell as Camilla Shand, his future lover and second wife.
Not long to wait, now!
The Crown season 3 is released on Netflix on November 17, 2019.
