The Handmaid’s Tale fans convinced June will die in season 4 with heart-breaking sacrifice to save daughter Hannah

THE Handmaid’s Tale fans are convinced June Osborne will die in season four in a heart-breaking sacrifice to save daughter Hannah.

The character – played by Elizabeth Moss – has been desperate to find her daughter and get her out of Gilead for the last three seasons of the Hulu drama.

At the end of series three, June managed to save dozens of children and sneak them onto a flight to Canada – and safety – before being shot as she stayed behind to continue her search for Hannah.

Viewers now think the lead character will die in series four as she sacrifices herself to rescue her little girl from the clutches of the totalitarian regime.

Writing on Reddit, one fan of the show said: "I feel like June will die.

"Honestly I do. I feel that June will die in taking down Gilead.

“She will get Hannah home to Luke and Nick will get out to Holly.”

June managed to get her baby girl Holly – who she had with the Waterford's driver Nick – out of Gilead at the end of series two, and she is now being raised by her husband Luke and best friend Moira in Canada.

The fan continued with their theory: "The two men will raise their daughters close to their sisters and in their mother image.

"I really do feel like that is the happy ending. Or as close to a happy ending as we will get."

Others agreed with their prediction, with another Reddit user writing: "I hope she does tbh. It is how her story should end, but with Hannah safe.”

A second added: “I’d have loved it if she'd died at the end of season 3 – the last thing she sees being the plane leaving."

Meanwhile The Handmaid's Tale boss has revealed how The Testaments will "dictate" season four – but production won’t start until 2020.

The hit Hulu series is based on the acclaimed Margaret Atwood book of the same name which was released in 1985.

The author has just released the highly anticipated sequel, The Testaments, and series editor Wendy Hallam-Martin has revealed it will have a huge influence on the fourth series.

She said: "I don’t think they’ll start production until March.

“They’re already writing so it’s gonna take a while to act out the next season, and then we have Margaret Atwood’s new book coming along the Testaments.

"That will dictate a lot of what happens in the next season and we’ll see where we go with the Testaments!”
