The Masked Dancer fans unmask Prawn Cocktail as TV actress after musical clue

The Masked Dancer fans are convinced they have unmasked the identity of Prawn Cocktail after spotting major clues on the ITV dance competition.

On Saturday (September 3), the hugely popular talent contest returned to the silver screen with a fresh batch of celebrities ready to blow viewers away with their fancy footwork.

Joel Dommett returned as the beloved host alongside the star-studded judging panel Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Oti Mabuse and newcomer Peter Crouch as they attempt to work out the celebrities behind the mask.

This year takes the TV show to a whole new level after 13 celebrities signed up to take part in the beloved series, with extravagant costumes including Pearly King, Scissors, Pillar and Post – the first ever TV duo – to name a few.

The hit dancing spin-off show from The Masked Dancer sees the celebrity contestants attempt to baffle the panel of judges and the millions of viewers at home with their impressive moves as they tease their true identity with a slew of clues.

On the opening show over the weekend, Candlestick, Scissors, Astronaut, Odd Socks, Prawn Cocktail and Pillar and Post took to the stage.

And it’s fair to say many viewers have twigged one of the celebrity contestants already following their clue segment which focused on a slew of musical references, including Dolly Parton.

Eagle-eyed viewers were quick to work out the musicals reference was a hint at their possible musical theatre background, as fans flooded to Twitter to share their predictions online.

Many viewers pointed out that TV actress Sheridan Smith has a strong relationship with musical theatre, as one user pointed out: “Prawn Cocktail had a lot of musical references, Sheridan Smith?”

Another agreed: “Prawn Cocktail Sheridan Smith,” as a third echoed: “Sheridan Smith is Prawn Cocktail.”

It comes after Joel let slip a major detail about two of the disguised celebrities on the show this year, which could be key to cracking their identity later on.

Speaking to Daily Star and other publications at the ITV Autumn Entertainment Launch in West London, Joel teased: “Definitely there’s some international stars!

“I can think of two right now that are so huge. I just couldn’t believe they came over.

“I think now the restrictions have eased so there are more people coming over. There were definitely a few. I was like, ‘Oh my Gosh’. I was totally star-struck by these people and the fact they were there. It was amazing.”
