In the new season, the fan-favorite singing competition show features 16 celebrities competing underneath their costumes with the Butterfly vs. Egg face-off kicking off the premiere night.

AceShowbiz -“The Masked Singer” finally returned for season 2 on Wednesday, September 25. The fan-favorite singing competition show featured 16 celebrities competing underneath their costumes. Kicking off the premiere night was the face-off between the Butterfly vs. Egg.

The Butterfly said she’d gone through a lot of change in the past year. “After achieving success in many stages of life, I found myself terrified by the one place I used to call home,” she added while a photo of London was shown. She performed “Bang Bang” and blew the panelists’ mind with her powerful vocal. Nicole Scherzinger guessed she was Cara Delevingne or Diana Ross, while Jenny McCarthy believed she was either Fantasia Barrino or Mel B (Melanie Brown).

As for the Egg, his clue video showed glimpses of design sketches and a skateboard. He opted to belt out “Just Dance” by Lady GaGa. Jenny guessed he was Johnny Weir or Adam Rippon. Ken Jeong went with Jonathan Van Ness while Nicole though he was Christian Siriano. The winner of the first face-off was the Butterfly!

The next battle was between the Thingamajig and Skeleton. Thingamajig seemingly hinted that he was an athlete as sneakers and a candle with 4 on top were shown in his clue video. Singing “Easy” by the Commodores, he made Jenny guess that he was Stephen Curry. As for Nicole, she guessed he was Dennis Rodman.

The Skeleton said that he was tired of “playing second fiddle.” He sang “Rapper’s Delight” by the Sugarhill Gang and “Good Times” by Chic. He might be entertaining, but he was not a trained singer. Jenny’s guess was Jon Cryer or Nathan Lane. Robin Thicke thought he was Dana Carvey, while Ken believed he was Martin Short. The winner of the battle was the Thingamajig.

Going against the Rottweiler, Ladybug performed “Holding Out for a Hero” by Bonnie Tyler and glimpsed a pumpkin, gavel, police car, and more in her clue video. Robin guessed she was Lily Collins, Jenny thought she was Willow Smith and Nicole guessed she was Jamie Lynn Spears. Ken, meanwhile, guessed Lindsay Lohan but the Ladybug denied.

Rottweiler followed it up with a performance of “Maneater” by Hall & Oates and he proved that he could sing. His clue seemingly indicated that he was from the sports world. Robin threw out names such as Russell Wilson and Brian Littrell of Backstreet Boys. Jenny guessed Nick Lachey while Ken thought he was JC Chasez of NSync. The winner of the face-off was Rottweiler.

The final face-off that night was Tree vs. Ice Cream. Tree said that she considered herself an “old-school” entertainer before singing “High Hopes” by Panic at the Disco. She sounded okay but didn’t seem to be a professional singer. Ken suggested she could be Beverly D’Angelo while Nicole thought she was Zooey Deschanel or Rachael Ray. Jenny was confused before throwing out Wendi McLendon-Covey‘s name.

Ice Cream opted for Lil Nas X‘s “Old Town Road” and everyone might agree that he wasn’t a trained singer. Jenny guessed he was a wild child who became wildly successful like MTV’s Rob Dyrdek. Meanwhile, Ken thought he could be a YouTube star. Nicole said he could be Diplo or Calvin Harris. Tree won the face-off.

In the last smack down of the night, Ice Cream had to take on Ladybug. Ice Cream hit the stage first to perform “Whip It”, making Robin be more convinced that he was Rob Dyrdek. Following it up was Ladybug who performed “Hit Me With Your Best Shot”. Nicole thought she was Ashlee Simpson. Later, it was revealed that the winner was Ladybug, meaning that Ice Cream joined Egg to be unmasked that night.

The first reveal was the Egg. The final guesses from the panel were ohnny Weir (Robin and Jenny), Jonathan Van Ness (Ken) and Christian Siriano (Nicole). And the one behind the Egg costume was Johnny Weir! As for the Ice Cream, Ken thought he was PewDiePie, Nicole guessed Marshmello, Jenny said Rob Dyrdek and Robin suggested DeadMau5. None of then guessed correctly because Ice Cream was YouTube star Tyler “Ninja” Blevins!
