BBC drama The Nest kicked off last weekend as viewers were given insight into the world of super-rich couple Dan Docherty (played by Martin Compston) and wife Emily (Sophie Rundle). The pair put their trust in teenager Kaya McDermott (Mirren Mack) into being their surrogate but a huge secret about her real identity came out tonight – will she make Dan her next target?
The show, set in Glasgow, revolves around the life of a wealthy couple who are desperate to have a child.
Emily had frozen a number of embryos in the hope the pair would find a suitable surrogate to carry a baby full-term.
After Dan’s sister Hilary (Fiona Bell) had carried the pair’s child but suffered a miscarriage in last week’s episode, leaving them with just one more chance.
Emily had a chance meeting with the mysterious teen when she struck her with her car and urged her to go to hospital, where Kaya realised the pair’s situation.

The pair had one embryo left and Emily urged her husband to take a chance on Kaya in order to give her a good future.
However, some huge twists came tonight as Kaya’s background became clear as Emily still remains blissfully unaware of who she really is.
Tonight, viewers learned there was no specific reason behind Emily’s “unexplained infertility”.
“It just doesn’t happen, I don’t have good quality eggs, I don’t know why. Even the ones they could harvest I could never carry full-term,” she explained.
Brewing underneath all this was journalist Eleanor’s (Katie Leung) damning discovery about the teen, who exposed who she really was.
Kaya’s next door neighbour was mysteriously found dead and realised there was a connection to Dan as she later made an appearance at his restaurant.
Keen to work out what Eleanor was up to, one of Dan’s associates took Eleanor’s bag from his bar, which held the clue to the truth.
Dan, looking through the documents in her bag, finally realised her true identity as Neve McKinnell, who had stabbed a pregnant woman to death when she was 11 years old.
Fans were quick to react to the shock twist on Twitter tonight, with one writing: “I KNEW that she was going to be a child murderer that had her identity changed! #thenest.”
In reference to Martin’s other role on Line of Duty, another wrote: “He needs to call Superintendent Ted Hastings #TheNest.”

“Called it last week. Thought she was a child murderer #thenest,” commented a third.
Not sure who to turn to after the shock revelation, Dan paid a visit to his estranged sister Hillary, as the pair plotted what to do next.
He confessed: “She killed someone, knifed her, watched them bleed, whilst she was pregnant, killed her unborn child. What am I going to do Hillary? She’s 14 weeks, we’re past the point of no return.”
However, Hillary was adamant Dan and Emily had a way out, reminding him: “No you’re not, there’s plenty of time before it gets to that. A good ten weeks.

“Listen to me, you’ve got choices and you’ve got time.”
What will the pair decide to do in order to keep them out of harm’s way?
However, it might not be enough as it was hinted earlier on in the show she could kill again.
Earlier on in tonight’s show, Dan and Kaya had a heated discussion, which saw the latter shout in rage to the businessman: “You go near me again I will f***** kill you.”
Although she patched things up with Dan, could he find himself in new danger now he knows what she’s really capable of?
The Nest continues on Sunday at 9pm on BBC One.
