TLC’s 90 Day Fiance has featured some interesting couples, like Danielle Jbali (née Mullins) and Mohamed Jbali from Season 2, as well as Jorge Nava and Anfisa Arkhipchenko from Season 4. But arguably the most talked-about pairing to come out of the franchise is Nicole Nafziger and Azan Tefou, who hail from Florida and Morocco, respectively.
To recap the couple’s wild story in just a few lines, Nicole has dated Azan long-distance since Season 4, and her young daughter, who she has from a previous relationship, calls him dad. Despite Nicole’s insistence that the two are in love and will get married in the near future, Azan has come across as uninterested in making it work with Nicole, saying he’s only attracted to her “like 55 percent.” He also bailed on an international meetup in South Korea, providing Nicole with an excuse that wasn’t aired on-camera. There’s a lot of other drama worth mentioning, but the main thing to remember is that fans are very suspicious of Azan and the relationship in general.
Just when you thought the couple’s relationship couldn’t get any more dramatic, a new rumor surfaced about Azan in March 2020.
Is Azan Tefou hiding something?
During Season 5 of the show, Azan Tefou and Nicole Nafziger revealed that they delayed their wedding so they could open a business in Morocco. The supposed store — which cost $6,000 to start — was meant to help the couple accrue money before tying the knot. But when pressed about the store by her family, Nicole admitted there was never a store in the first place. The pair didn’t explain what happened to the money or why they made it up, but in March 2020, a theory about the odd situation emerged.
Before we get to the theory, first digest this piece of gossip: Soap Dirt reported that Azan is allegedly married to someone else. “The leak says Azan Tefou married his cousin when he was 19,” the outlet stated. “And, as an added kicker, [the 90 Day Fiancé source] also says that Nicole Nafziger knew about the marriage the entire time. She found out when she got the paperwork together to marry Azan. In Morocco, a man can have up to four wives. But, the first wife has to provide written permission in-person in order to marry.”
Now here’s where things get even messier. The source alleged, according to Soap Dirt, that the $6,000 was “so Azan could pay off his wife and get a divorce.” He also supposedly “told her he was ‘unhappy’ in his marriage to her.”
We guess fans will have to wait and see how this one turns out!
