The View’s Whoopi Goldberg blasted by viewers after TMI confession

The View: Whoopi Goldberg shares underwear admission

On Wednesday, The View returned to ABC with Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin on the panel.

Among the many trending topics they discussed, underwear became the focus of attention as the women debated how much underwear should be packed for a trip.

When Whoopi introduced the debate, she jokingly became emotional and pretended to force back tears as she said: “You know we talk about many really deep things here.

“And this is one of them, it’s so hard to discuss but I’m going to bring it up. It’s the great underwear debate.”

As the actress explained the controversy surrounding the topic, she sarcastically added: “People apparently had really strong opinions.”

However, Whoopi shocked the studio audience and viewers at home as she passed the topic onto her co-hosts because “I don’t wear underwear, so it’s not a question I have to think about”.

While the audience nervously chuckled, viewers took to social media and were seemingly grossed out by the confession.

Taking to Twitter @gramfurn wrote: “Whoopi we didn’t really need to know you don’t wear underwear!”

A second viewer tweeted: “Ew…that’s just nasty.”

As @TClarkUSA stated: “The Great Underwear Debate and Whoopi not wearing any is not what we needed to hear but ummm kay.”

Sunny then continued the discussion as she reminded everyone: “But Whoopi it’s a 14-day trip.”

To which the moderator stated: “I still don’t bring underwear.”

While Joy confirmed: “She doesn’t wear underwear,” Alyssa revealed her habits were quite the opposite.

As she shared: “I’m not kidding I pack like I might pee my pants twice a day on a trip.”

The panellists burst into fits of laughter, as the host admitted: “I’m overboard.”

Sunny agreed: “Because you don’t know, anything could happen.”

The View continues weekdays on ABC in the USA.
