The Walking Dead viewers were utterly elated by the return of Morgan Jones (played by Lennie James) back in season three after his abrupt exit from the show in season one. The AMC warrior’s return was quite a surprise for everyone – including Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) – but it was a welcome one, to be sure.
Things were a little tense then when Morgan decided to leave his community in later seasons.
After a number of disagreements with members of his team in Hilltop and Alexandria, viewers were saddened to see him take a leave of absence from the events in AMC’s flagship show.
Thankfully, they were still getting their fix of Morgan in sister show Fear The Walking Dead.
Despite this, fans have since been wondering if Morgan would ever make a return to the show that he started his journey, The Walking Dead.

Now, Morgan star Lennie has spoken out about his time on The Walking Dead, and mentioned whether he would return.
Speaking to NME he explained he misses the show, saying: “There are certain times of the year when I miss The Walking Dead, because I got into the [production] routine of the year.
“Basically, everyone heads back to Atlanta or Georgia come April and everybody heads home come November, just before Thanksgiving.
“That was my pattern for a good number of years, so around those times of year when I know that everybody’s heading to Atlanta, I have a pang where I kinda miss everybody and remember how much fun it was being in everybody’s company. But I’m in contact with quite a few of the people I was closest to while I was filming there.”
But it’s not just his colleagues he misses as Lennie added: “I also really miss Atlanta. I fell in love with that city, and I made friends there who had nothing to do with the show.”
This led him to mentioning a return to the show as he teased: “Might I ever be invited back to The Walking Dead? Maybe: the ghost of Morgan!”
Morgan is not yet dead in The Walking Dead’s franchise, so it is unlikely he would be a ghost – could Lennie have prematurely revealed the death of the character?
Meanwhile, Negan star Jeffrey Dean Morgan recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about when the show could be returning.
He noted: “I just don’t know how long it’s gonna take for us to [start shooting].
“Like, when we’re gonna see a season 11 of The Walking Dead is such a f*****g mystery to me right now.”
Viewers last saw Negan in episode ten of season ten, shortly after he killed off Alpha (Samantha Morton).
Although he is the bonafide hero of the communities, he is not loved by everyone.
However his latest adventure saw him being cornered by Beta (Ryan Hurst) in a brutal twist of fate.

Jeffrey added he could see his new show – which he presents with his wife – continuing after the coronavirus pandemic.
He added: “A year from now let’s say we’re back to normalish, whatever that may be, say The Walking Dead is back to shooting and movies are going and everybody’s at work doing their thing.
“I think there’s totally an opportunity for Hilarie and I to keep doing the show from anywhere.”
The Walking Dead season 10 concludes on AMC and Fox UK later this year.
