Thor has struggle to find his feet during his own solo movies over the past two decades. Thor and Thor: The Dark World, were both financially successful, making $449 million and $664 million at the box office respectively, but neither of them were very well-liked by critics or fans. 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok was a much bigger success for the Chris Hemsworth-fronted movie. It made a staggering $854 million at the box office, and was in the top ten of highest-grossing movies of the year.
All eyes are now on the upcoming fourth Thor film – Thor: Love and Thunder – and whether it will be able to mimic the success of Ragnarok.
No real information has been given on the plot of the film just yet, but fans have already been given a huge tease by director Taika Waititi.
The New Zealand director announced at San Diego Comic Con last year that Thor: Love and Thunder would see the return of Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) – but as The Mighty Thor, the female version of the God of Thunder.
While this is exciting in of itself, some new information has now come to light in a information dump regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In a recent report it has been revealed that Love and Thunder will not only feature Thor and Lady Thor, but also many more of the Avengers too.
The report claims that the enormous ensemble cast have already started arriving in Sydney, Australia, for shooting – after some delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It goes on to say that the amount of actors and characters involved give Thor: Love and Thunder “an Avengers 5 feel”.
Following recent reports that Thor Love and Thunder would include Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), it could certainly feel like it.
This wouldn’t be the first time Marvel have slipped a large number of their characters into a film that didn’t include “Avengers” in the title.
Who could forget the 2016 hit Captain America: Civil War, which saw all of the Avengers characters appearing and battling their differences out?
Civil War also saw the legendary introduction of both Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), and Spider-Man (Tom Holland).
Given the franchise’s history of blending storylines, could the upcoming multiverse narrative in the forthcoming Spider-Man film see the web-head teaming up with Thor?
The feel of the film has been teased in recent months by Waititi, who told BBC the film is a little “romantic”.
He said: “We’ve been writing the script off and on for over a year, and this week I’m doing another pass on it.”

Waititi continued: “It is so insane. It’s also very romantic. I’m into romances now.
“I just want to make a romance. I want to make something I’ve never done or never cared for. I would like to attack something like that.”
Earlier this year Hemsworth spoke out about whether this fourth solo Marvel movie will be his last.
When the 37-year-old was asked if he was going to be putting down Mjolnir anytime soon, he replied: “Are you crazy?”
The Australian actor continued: “I’m not going into any retirement period. Thor is far too young for that. He’s only 1,500 years old.”
The star then gave a cheeky hint at what fans could expect in the upcoming film.
Hemsworth said: “It’s definitely not a film that I say goodbye to this brand. At least I hope so.”
Thor Love and Thunder is out in UK cinemas on February 18, 2022.
