The BBC and ITV have both made changes to their schedules on Thursday evening after it was announced Queen Elizabeth II was suffering from ill health. Just after 12.30pm, Buckingham Palace issued a statement saying the Queen’s doctors were concerned about her. Express.co.uk has all you need to know about the TV schedule changes.
What’s on the BBC on Thursday?
BBC One has actually cancelled all scheduled programming as the Queen’s family travelled to Balmoral in Scotland to be with her.
The broadcast was first interrupted during Bargain Hunt at lunchtime, as a BBC newsreader said: “We have had news from Buckingham Palace that the Queen is under medical supervision at Balmoral.
“It is understood that she is comfortable and that immediate family members have been informed with a course that news that she’s under medical supervision, raising concerns for her health.”
The programme schedule would have been as follows:
2.15pm Money for Nothing
3pm Escape to the Country
3.45pm Garden Rescue
4.30pm The Bidding Room
5.15pm Pointless
6pm BBC News and weather
However, the BBC has continued with their rolling news coverage as the story continues to develop.
The One Show is due to air at 7pm, and the show is yet to announce any changes to the programme, so it is expected to air as usual.
The schedule will continue as follows:
7.30pm EastEnders
8pm Celebrity MasterChef
9pm Ambulance

As for ITV, The Chase was removed from its usual slot of 5pm to make way for the coverage.
The ITV News special is expected to air until at least 7.30pm.
This special programme will replace the usual weekly evening news slot, and will be dedicated to coverage from Balmoral.
Emmerdale is expected to air in its usual evening slot of 7.30pm.
The soap will be followed by Tonight at 8.30pm and Police, Camera, Murder at 9pm.
At 5.05pm Prince William arrived at the Royal Scottish residence along with Princes Andrew, Edward and Sophie, the Countess of Wessex.
The Duchess of Cambridge is staying in Windsor to take care of their children following their first day at a new school.
Prince Harry is on his way but it is understood he will not be accompanied by his wife Meghan.
Well-wishers are gathered at Balmoral as Queen remains under medical supervision, but she is comfortable.
