Hollywood movie stars are paid millions for some of their biggest roles. And now a new study has revealed how much the highest-earning screen actors make per word spoken on film. Having analysed on the word count of film scripts compared to salary data, Casumo discovered Mission Impossible star Tom Cruise to be the Top Gun in the top 10 highest-paid actors per word.

3. Johnny Depp – $4,877
4. Denzel Washington – $4,581
5. Leonardo DiCaprio – $4,326
6. Bruce Willis – $4,080
7. Keanu Reeves – $3,643
8. Arnold Schwarzenegger – $3,447
9. Tom Hanks – $3,150
10. Brad Pitt – $3,058

The study said: “[Cruise’s] salary includes base salary plus per cent of films profits, which is a normal practice for a lot of Hollywood actors.”
It also found that leading actresses earn on average $1,900 less per word than their male counterparts.
The highest-earning actress was Cameron Diaz on $4,637 per word.
She was followed by Courteney Cox on $3,528 and Jodie Foster on $3,265.
As for the highest-paid roles per word for actors, No 1was Kurt Russell for playing Todd in Soldier.
The star made an incredible $36,855 per word for the 1998 sci-fi flop.
Russell famously spoke just 104 words across the entire movie, despite appearing in 85 per cent of the scenes.
The next closest was Liam Neeson’s Zeus in Clash Of The Titans on $35,211 per word.

Meanwhile, the highest-paid roles per word for actresses saw Julia Robert’s Tess Ocean at No 1.
She was paid $14,599 per word for her starring role in Ocean’s Eleven.
While second place went to the same actress and character for sequel Ocean’s Twelve on $12,315.
Cruise, the highest-paid actor in the world per word, next stars in Top Gun: Maverick.
The sequel takes off 34 years after the original.
Top Gun 2’s release date has been postponed from the summer to Christmas due to the pandemic.
Meanwhile, Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 are being shot back-to-back.
The first half releasing in November 2021, while the sequel arrives a year later.
