Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell) is someone in Emmerdale who is completely transfixed over the world of social media. Last year though, the teenager discovered the darker side to the variety of platforms when she found herself desperate to change the way she looked just to secure a bigger following online.
To try and become as famous as the people she was following, Amelia began taking weight-gain syrup and seriously editing the pictures she was snapping, convinced it would impact her chances when all it did was make her unwell.
The prospect of using social media as a way of life interested Amelia again recently, when Naomi (Karene Peter) mentioned that she knew someone on Amelia’s phone, but said that she’s only where she is now because she started out on a somewhat dodgy website.
Desperate to earn more money to not only provide for her daughter, but help her dad out as well, Amelia uses her tech-savvy skills to her advantage again, but quickly comes across the downside to literally anyone accessing her content.

Back from the Lake District, Mandy (Lisa Riley) isn’t quite sure what to make of Amelia filming some social media videos in the salon.
She tries to convince Mandy that having an online platform will be good for the salon but the next day, when Amelia tries to convince Dan (Liam Fox) that her idea will work, he isn’t convinced.
Fortunately, Dan agrees to trust her and so Amelia continues with her ideas, thrilled when a subscriber asks to donate to her page.
After some help from Sarah (Katie Hill), Amelia ends up admitting that she’s received some creepy messages from someone who has been accessing her content.
