Vin Diesel Backs Sam Heughan As Daniel Craig’s Bond Replacement

No Time to Die will mark Daniel Craig’s final performance as the iconic James Bond character, and fans of the popular film series are already speculating on a possible replacement.

Of course, many believed that Spectre (2015) would be Craig’s 007 swan song. He wound up joining the No Time to Die project, and the milestone 25th film of the bond series will be released in November (the release date was pushed back due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Craig has confirmed that this will be his final outing as the British spy, ending an illustrious run as the longest-tenured Bond actor. So after five incredible and action-packed thrillers with Craig, the Bond movie producers must go to work in finding his successor.

There have been countless monumental movie stars mentioned as possible replacements for Craig, and Vin Diesel has a marquee name in mind: None other than Bloodshot co-star Sam Heughan.

“Of course he’d make a good James Bond,” Viesel said at the film’s premiere in Los Angeles, via the Scottish Sun. “Sam would make a good anything.”

The 39-year-old Heughan, who received worldwide fame for his work in Outlander, was recently listed as the betting favorite to replace Craig at 5/1. Richard Madden was a close second at 5/2.

For what it’s worth, Heughan recently shut down the rumors that he would be the next James Bond, adding that he’s “waiting for the call.” It’s also unknown if the Bond series producers are interested in bringing him aboard.

Tom Hardy, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba and James Norton are among the other major stars who’ve been mentioned as possible Craig replacements. But of course, this is merely speculation in the film industry. There’s certainly no shortage of quality candidates to take over for Craig, though.

Don’t completely rule out the possibility of Craig doing a sixth Bond film, though. A source recently told The Sun that Craig may not be “finished with James Bond,” and that the 52-year-old actor doesn’t want No Time to Die to be “marketed” as his final 007 film. We should find out more soon after the movie hits the big screens.
