LOVE Island’s Wes Nelson has learnt to play the piano in just a matter of weeks ahead of the X Factor Celebrity live shows tonight.
The 21-year-old shocked his bandmates with his new found skill after teaching himself to play while they were in LA.
In our exclusive clip the star shows off his musical talent ahead of taking to the stage with his bandmates Eyal Booker, Samira Might and Zara McDermottt.
Despite being yet to win a reality show – Wes is determined to do well in the singing competition and isn’t worried about being ridiculed online.
When asked if he was taking it seriously, Wes said: “Yeah, and we want to win it. I think I can speak for both of us, where we don't do anything half-hearted, you know? I don't lose. Well, actually I do. I get to finals a lot, and I lose then. But that won’t happen this time.”
Wes got to the final of Love Island with Megan Barton-Hanson but was beaten by Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham. He also got to the final of Dancing On Ice but Jake Quickenden pipped him to the post.
He continued: “I think we've always thought of that dream of singing and being able to perform, and that being our job, being a performer.
“Now we've been given that platform and the opportunity to actually put ourselves out there. I know we're going to be ridiculed, I know there's going to be loads of skeptics straight away that will be, "Oh, look at these islanders, why are the islanders singing?”
“But if you actually think about it, they don't know anything that we've ever done other than Love Island. They don't know anything about us singing, they don't know anything like that.”
He added: “We were just normal people going on that show and we are still normal people.”
