KEVIN GUTHRIE has been jailed for three years for sexually assaulting a woman.
Here’s what we know about the shamed 33-year-old actor.
Who is Kevin Guthrie?
Guthrie is a Scottish actor, best known for playing Ally in Sunshine on Leith, Ewan Tavendale in Sunset Song and Fergus Suter in The English Game.
Harry Potter fans will recognise him from the Fantastic Beasts franchise as he played Abernathy.
Guthrie was charged for sexual assault in September 2020 following an offence that took place at Scott Reid’s Glasgow flat three years earlier.
What happened at Scott Reid’s flat?
Guthrie is convicted of attacking a woman inside the flat of fellow actor Reid in 2017.
The 29-year-old victim was due to meet the two men at a bar but appeared ill.
After getting a taxi, Guthrie and Reid helped the woman into the flat and put her on a bed.
Reid then called the NHS, leaving Guthrie alone in the room with the victim.
The woman told the court: “I remember my top being lifted up and my bra being held down.”
She was then groped by the shamed actor before he performed three sexual acts on her and kissed her on the mouth.
Guthrie stopped when Reid came into the room.
What has Kevin Guthrie been convicted of?
Guthrie has been convicted of sexual assault, a charge which he denied.
He has also been placed on the sex offender list indefinitely following the four-day trial.
The actor claimed he had only ‘helped’ the woman after she fell ill – but his DNA was found inside her underwear.
Sheriff Tom Hudges told Guthrie: “The court must show that women can be protected from domestic sexual offences.
"The offence you have been convicted of caused distress and consequences to the young woman involved in this case.
"She was unwell and thought her drink had been spiked elsewhere that night.
"The jury accepted that you committed these heinous crimes and the only appropriate sentence is imprisonment."
