X-rated tasks, stomach churning challenges and recoupling – inside Love Island’s secret ‘trial run’ fans NEVER see on TV | The Sun

A FORMER Love Island winner has told of the secret trial run producers enact – which is "exactly the same" as the main show.

Jessica Hayes, 29, who triumphed in the first ever series of the matchmaking programme, told how she very nearly missed out on fame after being called up for the dry run.

She told OK! Magazine how those selected for the practice – which runs through everything from boozy games, sleeping situations and camera angles – don't usually make it to the real show set.

DRY RUN SET-UP

Jess opened up on her pre-show antics in Love Island's swish Mallorca villa and confirmed: "It’s exactly the same as the main show.

"We’re recorded 24/7 because the behind-the-scenes people need to practise the filming and editing."

Love Island fans spot ‘clue’ to who has been dumped from the villa

Jess confessed there was "lots of drama" and added: "We all knew it wouldn’t air on TV, so we let our inhibitions down very quickly.

"There were romantic connections and plenty of kissing and cuddling in bed, with people swapping partners at the recoupling ceremonies.

"I don’t think anybody went to the next level but then we were only there for five days.

"I grew close to one guy, but we had a big argument so I wasn’t sad to leave him behind for the main show."

GROSS GAMES

Even the challenges were the same, with the stunning brunette forced to spit liquid into her partner's mouth for a gruesome challenge.

Unfortunately for the influencer, she was not only forced to repeat it on the real series – she had to feign her surprise, too.

REAL DEAL

Initially Jess was informed she hadn't made it to the real show, with bosses stumping up £100 per day for her to stay in a villa.

Yet Jess how she was "so excited" for the "biggest compliment ever" when she was pulled up for the real show.

She added: "I’d only packed for one week, but ended up staying out in Spain for eight. I wasn’t allowed to tell the other islanders that I’d done the dry run either, so they were confused about why I was always asking to borrow their clothes. I got quite upset about it."

Meanwhile Tyne-Lexy Clarson, who starred in series three, added to the publication: "During the dry run we slept in the villa for three nights and all got to know each other.

"When I went onto the actual show I was already familiar with the entire layout of the place."
