Billie Eilish left fans shaken and stirred when she asked a rather X-rated question on her TikTok, while promoting her album this week.
The star took to her social media to shock us all into sitting up and taking notice of when her next release would be, as she shared a short clip of her eating on Thursday evening.
In the most low-key way, she casually asked her 30.7million followers: ‘Who wants to eat me out?’
And this is where we clutch our pearls. You know, if we were wearing any. We’re working from home, after all – it’s a miracle we’re even dressed.
She wrote alongside the clip: ‘album out in less than a month ?.’
Fans were most definitely not expecting such a question to come from the Bad Guy hitmaker, as they responded in the comments.
‘Last thing I was expecting to hear,’ one wrote alongside the clip, as another chimed in: ‘Sorry? What was that?’
Trying to see past her advertising tactics, another mused: ‘This is an interesting album promotion.’
FYI Billie’s new album, Happier Than Ever, drops on July 30, if you needed a date.
Not sure why we’re surprised by the move, seeing as Billie loves to break the internet and keep us on our toes. Platinum blonde hair, anyone? Bombshell Vogue cover ring a bell?
Many of those in the comments were bringing up the notion of ‘queer baiting’ alongside her latest question for fans, after the star was accused of doing so in a recent social media post.
In the video for her single Lost Cause Billie was seen hanging out in bed with the girls, as well as playing Twister, dancing and twerking.
Alongside the video, the teenager shared outtakes and BTS images to Instagram, with the caption: ‘i love girls.’
Many people took this as a straightforward statement of loving the company of other girls, but others took it as a coming out statement.
On top of this, some people claimed that if Billie wasn’t coming out as LGBT+, she was ‘queerbaiting’, which is usually applied to TV shows and movies that create romantic or sexual tension between two same-sex characters but never make it canon or evolve on it.
Billie has not commented on the controversy, and has never defined her sexuality – not that she is obliged to.
Still, with many musing on how the fans celebrating her latest TikTok ‘forgot’ about the recent criticism she faced, fans were all for her stealthily shocking methods of album promotion.
