Maitland Ward surprised us with her shift in career trajectory last year — in which at 42 years old the actress most of us knew as Rachel from Boy Meets World suddenly decided to try her hand (and more) at making porn!
So far she’s found quite a lot of success in the adult film industry, but you know what they say — you can’t get to 500 million ****s without making a few enemies.
And that’s exactly what seems to have happened to Maitland; according to a new report in TMZ, the former TGIF staple is being sued for a whopping $270,000 by two co-workers who used to be her friends — and even more.
Per the legal documents obtained by the outlet, the suit is being brought by a videographer and a fellow adult film actress who claim Ward cheated them out of money they were owed for work they did.
According to the claim, the two actresses started performing together (i.e. having sex on camera) in July 2017. Apparently their working relationship became something more as they started hooking up in their personal time.
Man, some people just can’t leave it at the office…
BTW, the actress is unnamed in the suit but apparently also referred to as a reality TV star? Hmm…
The relationship eventually ended badly, as these things tend to do. Unfortunately, the blood went bad shortly after a deal they had made in September 2018 in which they were all supposed to be paid for some work.
The plaintiffs claim Maitland and her lawyer got the money, but instead of splitting it as she had agreed, she gave them the shaft. Figuratively speaking.
Good sex, bad checks. Been there.
Now the unnamed actress is demanding $180k in damages while the videographer is asking for $90k, both for the work and other damages.
Maitland herself has now publicly denied any wrongdoing, saying in a statement to TMZ:
“The fact that these long time friends have gotten together after so many months to sue me is complete slander and immoral. There are zero contracts and agreements that have any info pertaining to this completely made up story.”
She also calls the suit “a joke and warning to all porn stars to be careful who you shoot with on the outside.”
We say it’s yet another reminder: don’t s**t where you eat, people. No matter what it is you’re eating.
