Denise Van Outen still recovering from Dancing on Ice injury one year on

It's coming up to that time of year when our minds turn to Strictly Come Dancing Christmas specials, I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! finals and the Dancing on Ice kick-off.

Last year's series saw Sonny Jay take home the crown, but the series was plagued by drop outs due to Covid and accidents on the ice.

One such story was that of TV personality Denise Van Outen. She was forced to quit the competition after fracturing her shoulder in three places during the rehearsals in February.

During her exclusive chat with OK!, the Steph's Packed Lunch presenter reveals that she's still undergoing treatment one year on.

"I’m still having physio from it," the 47 year old star told us.

"But, I’m pretty much there now. The Cabaret show I’m doing is mainly singing and compering, so nothing too physical – I’m not kicking my leg above my head."

The blonde bombshell was heartbroken when she had to leave the competition early. She detailed the extent of her injuries in an interview with new magazine earlier this year.

"I’ve still got some muscle tearing and muscle damage. Annoyingly, muscles take longer to repair than bones. It’s a bit of a slow process and it’s a case of doing all my exercises."

Fast forward to now and it appears the West End performer is nearing the end of her recovery.

Stars in the line-up for the next series of DOI include Love Island's Liberty Poole, Kimberly Wyatt, Brendan Cole and Rachel Stevens.

Denise – who is gearing up for a cabaret stint at London's Proud club – explained that she will be spending her Christmas in the city as she's working throughout the holiday season.

She explained: "I’ve got my cabaret show over Christmas – that was another thing that got cancelled. Then I’ll invite all the family over and finally show off my decorations!"

When quizzed on what she'd be getting up to this Christmas, Denise said: "I’m working all the way through, including Christmas Eve, so my mum said she’d come over and cook because last year we weren’t together.

"To me last Christmas felt like it was cancelled so this year, I’m really going all out."
