Eva Mendes got candid on Instagram recently after a female fan told the actress she looked “amazing” in a photo she posted.
“I struggle with Social Media but I love the constant connection with women,” the 46-year-old said on Wednesday. “I try to post responsibly and I try to make sure I don’t portray myself in a way that makes other women feel bad. Instagram can be hurtful in that way. Like with this picture, this is actually a campaign shot and it was retouched.”
In the photo, Mendes appears glamorous in a floral print dress and olive green trench coat.
The “Hitch” star then admitted, “I want women to know it takes a lot for me to look this way and that I struggle with food Among many other things.”
Mendes, who frequently interacts with her followers on Instagram, thanked the woman for her compliment and encouraged, “Call me out on bulls—t If you see it.”
The fan had also requested that Mendes share more pictures of her and husband Ryan Gosling. The couple have been married since 2011, and share daughters Esmerelda Amada, 5, and Amanda Lee, 3.
