Butler jumped into the river, pulling 14-year-old Daniel Smith to dry land and helping to save his life. While law enforcement praised Butler’s quick actions and commended him for his role in saving Smith’s life, Butler himself was humble, stating: “I wouldn’t call myself a hero. I just acted instinctively. When I brought him out he was lifeless. I’m just glad he’s all right now.”
