Gwen Stefani dropped a new reggae-infused single, “Slow Clap,” on Thursday, March 11.
“I’ll be David, you Goliath/ Set the rule and I’ll defy it/ You’ll be angry, I’ll be quiet/ You’ll be purple, I’m the violet,” she sings in the song.
“Slow Cap” is the singer’s first release of the year. The song was co-written by the singer, Ross Golan and producer Luke Niccoli, the same team behind “Let Me Reintroduce Myself.”
Both tracks are set to feature on Stefani’s next LP, the non-Christmas follow-up to her 2016 album This Is What the Truth Feels Like.
In an interview with Apple Music‘s Zane Lowe, Stefani explained that the song originated from her collaborator Golan. She said that he sang the song into his phone, which then became her latest single.
