Strictly Come Dancing professionals Janette Manrara, 37, and Aljaz Skorjanec, 31, have been married since 2017 and are one of the BBC show’s most beloved couples. However, the duo have now revealed that there is a downside to the attention surrounding their marriage, as they are often quizzed on whether they want to start a family together in the near future.
Speculation mounted amongst fans that Janette was hoping to become a mum for the first time after she stepped down from her role as a dancer on Strictly to host its spin-off programme, Strictly: It Takes Two.
Now, Janette has set the record straight, insisting she and Aljaz want to “keep things private” when it comes to their baby plans.
It comes after the couple were asked about whether they find the constant questions about babies frustrating, in a new interview.
Aljaz said: “It’s not so much frustrating, but something else.
“A few months ago, I saw a post from someone who was struggling with having children. Not that we’re going through that, but it shows it’s so personal.
“Out of respect to all the people who can’t have children, I find the topic a sensitive one.”
Janette agreed with her other half, telling The Mirror that they have decided to never share “if we’re struggling or not”.
Addressing their desires for privacy as a couple, Janette replied: “I know I’m on Instagram, but we’re quite private people.
“We’ll never share if we’re struggling or not – it’s our personal process.
“I don’t mind talking about it now and then, but not when it becomes the sole topic of conversation – especially as a woman.”
She added: “Whenever people say, ‘Janette, when are you going to have a baby?’ I’m like, ‘Well, firstly, it’s ‘we’, it’s both of us.’”
Janette went on to reveal that Aljaz has always wanted to be a father, but that she has been very focused on her career as a dancer over the past few years.

She explained: “Aljaz has wanted to be a father since he was 15, so it’s an interesting dynamic that I’ve been such a career woman – but people assume and ask me as the woman.
“I’ve said in the past that we want children and we’ll some day have them – beyond that, I’d like to keep things private.”
Janette was recently announced as the new host of It Takes Two after Zoe Ball quit the programme.
Back in June, the star was forced to deny she was pregnant after she took to social media to tease some “big news” in view of her 437,000 followers.
However, after being inundated with responses asking if she was set to announce she’s expecting her first baby, Janette broke her silence on the matter.
She wrote: “For the record, I’m not pregnant…”
Janette and Aljaz have previously opened up on their hopes to have a baby together in the future.
The Cuban-American dancer recently said: “As a woman who’s a dancer, my body is my job so it’s scary to make that decision about the perfect time to start a family.
“I always thought there would be a perfect month and year, but what 2020 has made me realise is that perfect time is never going to come along.”
