Celebrated session drummer Jerry Carrigan has passed away at the age of 75 in Chattanooga. His cousin, Tom Carrigan, although unaware of the exact date on which he died, reported that he first heard the news last Thursday.
The well-known artist rose to fame after his work on Arthur Alexander‘s “You’d Better Move On” via FAME Records’ Muscle Shoals caught the attention of The Beatles in 1964.
Carrigan, alongside David Briggs on piano and Norbert Putnam on bass, opened for The Beatles in their first-ever U.S tour in 1964, after which the Alabama-based musicians decided to move to Nashville, where they continued to play with stars of the likes of Elvis Presley, George Jones, Kenny Rogers and Porter Wagoner, among others.
