Kate Garraway makes return to social media to send sweet message to Eamonn Holmes

Kate Garraway has taken a step back from social media while her husband Derek Draper has been battling coronavirus in hospital.

But this week the Good Morning Britain presenter broke her silence to send a sweet message to her close friend Eamonn Holmes.

The 53 year old, who recently opened up on her partner's condition during an appearance on GMB, posted three heart emojis underneath a picture Eamonn had posted of his daughter.

Eamonn, who is married to Ruth Langsford, both 60, took to Instagram to gush over his beautiful daughter Rebecca sharing a rare picture of father and daughter together.

He wrote: “Many Happy Returns Darling. It was a very special day when Becca my daughter came into the world and every time I'm with her continues to be special."

In the snap, Eamonn, who recently slammed Gogglebox for “cruel” editing, can be seen smiling at the camera standing next to his daughter Rebecca who has turned 29. She can be seen donning a black hooded top and sunglasses.

Underneath the post, Kate had taken to the comment section along with numerous other famous friends of Eamonn's. Her first appearance on social media since her post on 4 June to celebrate NHS clap for carers.

Kate's GMB co-host Charlotte Hawkins wrote: "Gorgeous pic! Happy Birthday Becca xx"

Media personality Lizzie Cundy wrote, "Beautiful girl! Happiest of birthdays Becca," while Loose Women star Saira Khan added: “Beautiful people, happy birthday Beccy.”

Kate recently explained that while her husband, who has been in intensive care since 30 March, has beaten coronavirus, the deadly bug "attacked everything" leaving doctors unsure he will survive the damage caused to his body.

She told Ben Shepherd during her GMB interview: "He is now Covid free, so he's testing negative for the Covid virus, so the fight with the virus has been won and he's still here.

"But it's reeked extraordinary damage on his body and we don't know if he can recover from that."

Kate continued: "He's still with us, he fought the most extraordinary battle, and I hate the idea of fighting a battle because it is a battle but, you know, the fact that he's still here and is holding on, I hate the idea that other people haven't fought hard enough or something, and I'm just so grateful that he's still here and I've got the option of praying and hoping when others have had that stripped away.

"He is very, very sick and as time goes on… it's a virus, it's a little bit like a computer virus, I think. Doctors manage one bit extraordinarily well and there seems to be a flicker of hope, and then other things emerge and they're fighting that. It's affected him for the top of his head to the tip of his toes."
