IDK about the rest of you, but if Prince William gave me the same gigantic sapphire that once belonged to Princess Diana, I would never let it out of my sight. So, uh, when Kate Middleton stepped out for her latest appearance, the absence of her engagement ring raised some eyebrows. But before you jump to any conclusions and start rehashing those “rural rival” cheating rumors or anything, know that Kate had a really good reason to ditch her ring today.
This afternoon, Kate visited the Evelina Children’s Hospital in London to attend a workshop hosted by the National Portrait Gallery’s Hospital Program and to take a look at how the arts can help kids. But before Kate was able to enter the hospital, she had to follow the facility’s policy and scrub her hands to make sure she wasn’t bringing any germs into the area. According to People, the hospital typically recommends that visitors don’t even wear jewelry so they don’t have to worry about cleaning it, and it seems that’s exactly what Kate did.
For anyone who is still a little skeptical, Kate was still wearing her gold wedding band, so seriously, don’t read too much into this.
And as InStyle pointed out, this certainly isn’t the first time Kate has removed her ring to visit a hospital, and it’s pretty much in the same vein of how people have to tuck in their ties when visiting hospitals because germs can latch on to anything! Basically, what we’ve learned here is that Kate and Will are fine, Kate is a good guest, and Kate, unfortunately, is not mailing that ring to me.
