Kevin Costner wife relieved at £98k child support despite asking for more

Kevin Costner’s estrange wife is reportedly “relieved” at how much money she’s getting in child allowance – even thought it’s way less than what she wanted.

Christine Baumgartner, shocked many, including the Hollywood actor, when she filed for divorce in May, citing “irreconcilable differences”.

The former handbag designer was seeking $248,000 per month from the Oscar-winning director and Yellowstone actor, 68, in child support.

Since this, the pair have flown back at one another, slamming either’s chosen payment amount, with the Hollywood actor claiming £39,638 ($51,940) a month is the “reasonable” amount.

On Wednesday, a California Superior Court judge presiding over the case extended Kevin’s temporary child support payments to £99,024 ($129,755) per month.

Christine and Kevin share: sons Cayden, 16, Hayes, 14, and daughter Grace, 13.

A source close to Christine has said the former handbag designer is “relieved” after the latest court hearing, leaving her and her kids in a better position.

The source told People: “[Christine] only wants to take care of and support her children.

“The divorce is not their fault. She doesn’t want them to suffer, or experience negative life changes because of it.

“It’s all stressful for Christine, but she is trying to stay positive.”

Christine was present for the latest hearing, but Kevin did not attend, as he had a pre-planned vacation to British Columbia with his kids.

Kevin has also had to handle Christine refusing to leave the £111 million ($145 million) home they once shared, with a judge now ordering her to leave the home by the end of the month.

The former handbag designer had reportedly requested to have until the end of August to vacate the property, with the Hollywood actor requesting her to move out by July 13.

Christine has remained in the Santa Barbara compound since filing for divorce on May 1, despite a clause in her prenuptial agreement that he claims requires her to leave within 30 days.

It also contained wording that suggested should Christine fight against the prenup, she could end up with nothing.

She has already accepted the £1.14 million ($1.5 million) payout agreed upon by Kevin in the agreement in the event of their split.

Kevin and Christine married in 2004 on his ranch in Aspen, Colorado, having been dating for four years previously.

They both have filed for joint custody of their children since Christine filed for divorce on May 1.
