Kim Kardashian turned to Grandma MJ about her ‘stiff hands’ during Lupus scare

Kim Kardashian West turned to her grandmother MJ when she plunged into a health crisis.

Mary Jo 'MJ' Campbell, the 85-year-old mother of Kardashian's momager Kris Jenner, helped ease the fears of 39-year-old Keeping Up With The Kardashians star, Kim.

A bonus scene from season 17 of the reality show was released on Friday and Kim is seen sitting down with MJ, explaining the symptoms that were making her hands feel so painful.

Kim, at the time, was fearing that she had lupus, which is an inflammatory autoimmune disease, or rheumatoid arthritis , which is another incurable autoimmune disorder.

They both cause chronic pain and inflammation and had made the mother-of-four worry that this could be what she was experiencing.

It turned out that Kim was eventually diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis.

This is also an incurable, inflammatory condition and tends to affect people who psoriasis, which has dogged the reality star throughout her life.

The good news for Kim is that this is a condition is more manageable and the stiffness and swelling in the joints is a milder flare up than the other conditions bring.

In the clip, Kim tells MJ: “I woke up a few weeks ago and my hands were really stiff

“It was really weird, they felt different. I went to go get my phone and I couldn’t — my hands were kind of numb.

Kim said that it was a tough period in her life and that the uncertainty of what she was suffering from made it difficult.

She said: "Autoimmune issues are really scary. When you get a diagnosis — and I didn’t realise I was one of those people, but before I knew what it was, when it was really up in the air, you get in your head and you think of every worst possibility of what’s going to happen and how you’re going to live your life.”
